I am supposed to be pretty much fluent in Spanish for my new job. Which I'm not. Not even close. But I've been muddling through with my book 'Mastering Spanish Business Vocabulary', the babel fish website, correspondence with my friend who IS fluent, and all those murky memories of high school Spanish class.
And the boistering thought that, if I fail, there's another part time assistant who can clean up after me.
Today I came in and logged onto my computer, which I share with the other part-time assistant. She had left the babel fish translator site up. The phrase she had translated was:
Hello, I do not speak Spanish. Please call back Monday.
Apparently, I'm the expert.
