It's the Final Countdown...

A moving post? Didn't I just do one of these? It feels like it.

Yet here I am, playing hooky from school and work, on the couch in what soon won't be my living room, surrounded by boxes, packing tape, and newspaper.

It's just starting to sink in the littlest bit. I'm leaving. I won't be living in New York City anymore. Maybe never again. Probably never again. This is it. These three weeks. And how will I be spending them? Painting the town various garish shades? Living it up? Infusing my life with new experiences?

No, no, no. I'll be packing, panicking, working on my thesis and working at my temp job. New York doesn't stop for my pleasure just because I'm leaving. In fact, it remains largely indifferent. It's New York.

I'm watching The Wedding Date while packing. It's on TNT, which just amuses the crap out of me. The announcer informs me in that growly man's man action movie voice, "You're watching The Wedding Date on TNT." He omits the general tagline "We know drama." That would, of course, be taking things too far.
