It has always bothered me slightly that 'Modernism' is a term. Because, of course, modern has another meaning altogether and how do you know if people are speaking of the cultural/artistic movement or something happening right now or in the very recent past?
In retaliation, I feel we should adopt Current-ism to describe our own cultural period. Then, in twenty years or so, people will go: "Ah, this David Hare play, this TV show 24, this tortured song by Justin Timberlake discussing the loss and regain of sexiness- it's all so Current." And people will say: "What? When?"
Love it.
In other news, I fell in love with 24 last night. I suppose with my rampant television addiction, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

this reminded me of the conversation i had with my roommate the other night. (ok, maybe i just talked while she looked at me strangely). those geico caveman commercials. what if cave people were still around and were jsut another race of human being? there would be blacks, asians, whites, caves... we'd have martin luther cave day and everything. just a thought...
